Government Grants

The government has committed to put the UK on a path to cut the UK’s CO2 emissions by 60% by 2050, and has a domestic goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 20% by 2010. They are several European and Worldwide agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol, signed by the government which give Energy efficiency solutions such as insulation a key role to play in meeting these targets, and have been identified by the Government as 'the cheapest, cleanest and safest way of meeting our energy policy objectives' (DTI, 2003).

Over the next 2 to 3 years, over £2 billion will be available to make your house warmer by installing insulation, loft insulation or cavity wall insulation.

However funding is not always available, so the sooner you apply, the better are your chances to get the insulation work done at a discount.

Households on benefits or over 70 years old.
If you, your partner, or somone in your household receive one of the following benefits or aged 70 or above, then you could be entitled to free loft and cavity wall insulation.

• Housing Benefit
• Income Support
• Council Tax Benefit
• Attendance Allowance
• Disabled Persons Tax Credit
• Disability Living Allowance
• Pension Tax Credit
• Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
• Child Tax Credit with Annual Household Income Below £16,000
• Working Tax Credit with Annual Household Income Below £16,000
• War Disablement Pension that Includes Either a Mobility Supplement Or Constant Attendance Allowance

Other Households
You are entitled to a reduction on the cost of insulation. Depending on your type of property, you can save up to 70% off the standard price.
